Know What You Eat

3D and UV techniques are specifically used for the food segment. Using these technologies, we have implemented several projects. Reading labels using OCR and OCV is a highly requested technique.

Empty Crate Detection

A manufacturer wanted to prevent product contamination and comply with halal separation requirements. To achieve this, it was necessary to inspect crates for the absence of product residues. This was accomplished using a five-camera system with UV lighting. The white products could be distinguished from the white crates based on their material properties.

Whipped Cream Can Inspection

A manufacturer of whipped cream cans in Belgium has implemented an inspection system for the expiration date printing and an inspection to detect whipped cream droplets in the nozzles. Both inspections operate at high speed, as the cans are nearly impossible to follow with the naked eye.

Hamburger Inspection

For a manufacturer in the food industry, a hamburger inspection system has been implemented. Frozen hamburgers are presented with the ribbed side facing up to ensure they are all packaged with the same side up. The discoloration of the product during the production process is the same on both the top and bottom. Therefore, the decision of which side is the top or bottom must be made based on the 3D structure of the product.

Candy from a Roll

A Dutch candy manufacturer does not want any candies of the wrong color or flavor to be left behind in its more than 1-meter-wide candy bins. To achieve this, a Vision inspection station has been implemented, where the bins are transported by an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle). The requirement is clear: no candy should be left behind, so every single piece is detected.

Sticker Reader
